Welcome to the American Brachytherapy Society’s Radiation Therapist page. ABS is dedicated to providing radiation therapists with a growing collection of valuable brachytherapy resources and to offer a community where therapists can share knowledge, experiences, and best practices. This page is dedicated to supporting radiation therapists in their essential role within brachytherapy teams and fostering collaboration across the profession.
Radiation therapists are key contributors to the safe and effective delivery of brachytherapy treatments. While their formal education emphasizes patient care and treatment delivery, therapists often take on additional responsibilities that extend beyond traditional external beam therapy, including assisting with applicator placement, imaging, quality assurance, and patient education.
Our goal is to create a valuable platform that strengthens the radiation therapist’s understanding of their role in brachytherapy procedures. From patient preparation and intraoperative support to imaging coordination, treatment verification, and post-procedure care. Through shared resources and community engagement, ABS aims to empower radiation therapists to excel in this specialized area of radiation oncology.
