Artificial intelligence is rapidly shaping the way brachytherapy is planned, delivered, and taught. This session will provide a practical overview of how AI is being used today in contouring, treatment planning, quality assurance, and workflow optimization, highlighting where these tools can streamline clinical practice and where human oversight remains essential. Faculty will discuss the benefits, limitations, and safeguards required to ensure safe and reliable implementation, as well as how emerging AI technologies may influence future brachytherapy training, competency development, and skill assessment.

This Resident Journal Club explores the evolving landscape of organ preservation in rectal cancer, tracing the progression from OPERA to APHRODITE and the growing body of evidence supporting rectal brachytherapy as a potential tool in selective non?operative management. Residents will review key trial data, examine emerging clinical signals, and discuss real?world barriers to implementation — including workflow, patient selection, and multidisciplinary coordination. Designed as a focused, resident?led learning session, this program offers a practical, evidence?based look at where rectal brachytherapy fits within modern organ?preservation strategies and what’s needed for broader clinical adoption.

3D printing in brachytherapy offers the opportunity to create patient-specific applicators that better conform to individual anatomy, with the potential to improve target coverage and organ-at-risk sparing. However, many published 3D-printed applicator workflows can appear resource-intensive or difficult to implement, particularly for cancer centres without access to in-house 3D printing. This webinar will describe the clinical implementation of outsourced, patient-specific clinical templates for gynecologic HDR brachytherapy at a centre without local 3D-printing infrastructure. The presentation will focus on a practical workflow for template design, production, clinical use, and quality assurance, highlighting how patient-specific clinical templates can streamline interstitial implant procedures while maintaining treatment flexibility.
