The American Brachytherapy Society is proud to announce Catheryn M. Yashar, MD, FABS, FASTRO, as the recipient of the 2026 Ulrich Henschke Award — the highest honor ABS bestows on a practitioner of brachytherapy.

A past president of ABS, Dr. Yashar's leadership within this Society runs deep — making this recognition not just a professional milestone, but a homecoming. She currently serves as Chief Medical Officer at UC San Diego Health and is President-Elect of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).

A professor of radiation medicine and applied sciences at UC San Diego School of Medicine, she has dedicated her career to advancing the treatment of breast and gynecologic cancers through innovative brachytherapy techniques — from image-guided HDR to accelerated partial breast irradiation.
