Additional Fellowships

A one-year Clinical/Research Brachytherapy Fellowship is being offered in Kelowna, British Columbia, at the Cancer Center for the Southern Interior, one of the 5 regional Centers of the British Columbia Cancer Agency. Experience will include:

MR-guided HDR brachytherapy for cervical cancer
Permanent seed LDR prostate brachytherapy with MR-CT fusion QA
HDR prostate brachytherapy using TRUS-based planning (Varian)
Partial breast radiation using Pd-103 permanent seed brachytherapy

The center has 12 Radiation Oncologists with 5 linear accelerators and 2 Operating Rooms (one LDR and one HDR). Through the year the Fellow will be involved in all aspects of brachytherapy practice including patient consultation, assessment and selection for brachytherapy, treatment planning, operative procedures, patient follow up and symptom management. It is anticipated that the selected candidates will develop research proposals which can be completed within the fellowship.

Kelowna is located in the heart of the Okanagan valley on the shores of beautiful Okanagan Lake, surrounded by vineyards and orchards and less than one hour from ski resorts.
